In 1984, a talented but frustrated musician, SPENCER, comes to Los Angeles to seek his fortune. He hooks up with another musician, DWAYNE, and soon they develop a lucrative collaboration. While busking in the park one day, they save a man, VICTOR, from a mugging.  It was actually a "hit" on the man, a rich Latin businessman, who is funding a revolution in Central America. Victor uses his business connections to land the two musicians a record contract, and then right into the middle of a revolution.

 This film is about an inter-racial song and dance team in the 1920's. SONNY JACKSON, an older "Bojangles Robinson" type, hooks up with DANNY O'DAY, a young Gene Kelly type. Together, they confront gangsters, racism, and ageism for the elder Sonny. They find commercial success when they travel to France, and across Europe. But when "talkies" come in, Hollywood comes a calling, and they only want the young white guy, not the older black man.
